Rehabilitation Spotlight: A KINdred Spirit
Michelle, SE Health Registered Kinesiologist
Michelle is making sure her clients are keeping up with the activities they love.
She’s been doing that for over a decade, while helping them to achieve their health and wellness goals, one step at a time.
As a SE Registered Kinesiologist in Mackenzie Health’s Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (CVPR) Program, Michelle represents the well-rounded skill set of kinesiologists through exercise physiology – crafting client assessments, plans, and prescriptions that make a big difference.
What is a Registered Kinesiologist?
Kinesiologists study human movement. They apply exercise and movement science to promote health and well-being; prevent, manage, and rehabilitate injuries; treat illness and chronic disease; restore function; and optimize human performance in the workplace, clinical settings, sport, and fitness. As rehab professionals, they are registered with their College and must ensure they are always in good standing. They are the only human movement specialists who use science and research to offer movement as medicine, to any person with a health or fitness goal who wants a hands-on, personalized approach.
“We give people recommendations for their real life and keep them doing what they enjoy,” said Michelle. “We educate our clients about how exercise impacts heart rate and blood pressure, and how to manage their symptoms if they arise. Our goal is that they are able to exercise safely on their own.”
The CVPR Program setting is a true ‘team approach’ where Michelle’s found a great home and appreciates bringing hope and happiness to her colleagues and clients.
“Our team is a well-oiled machine. We’ve been together for so long and our operations are fluid and seamless. We anticipate each other’s next steps and promote the best in client care,” she added. “Our clients want to be there and they want to learn. I love that spirit!”
