Dr. Christine Li wins the 2023 Michael Decter Scholarship for Health Leadership and Policy Studies
SE Health is excited to announce that Dr. Christine Li is the winner of the 2023 Michael Decter Scholarship for Health Leadership and Policy Studies.
Each year, the scholarship seeks high-performing students entering a first-year graduate health leadership or policy program who are fueled by a passion to make a significant difference in Canadian healthcare. The scholarship supports students across the country and reflects Michael Decter’s exceptional health leadership and legacy.
Dr. Christine Li completed her undergraduate and medical school training at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She went on to complete General Surgery residency at the University of Alberta. She is currently completing her subspecialty training in Colorectal Surgery at the University of British Columbia, where she is also concurrently completing the Master of Health Administration program. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
Dr. Li’s research interests include surgical innovation, medical education, and addressing areas of need in surgery with a systems-based approach. She is a mentor and support to many students and residents, particularly young women. She also serves as the Impact and Research Director at the not-for-profit organization Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange). She integrates her passion for research and data-driven methodology with innovative health policy strategies to improve the delivery of health care to vulnerable populations in Canada and across the globe.
