Registered Dietitians Recognition Week 2018

Registered Dietitians (RDs) in Ontario are uniquely trained food and nutrition experts. They are the recognized experts in translating scientific, medical and nutrition information into practical healthy meal plans and helping individuals, their families and communities to access nutrition for health.

Collaboration with clients, caregivers, and other health professionals is central to dietetic practice. Together, with the health care team and the client they manage nutrition for health promotion, disease prevention, and treatment of acute and chronic diseases.

Nutrition information is individualized to the specific needs of our clients. We provide service to those from birth to end of life.

Only individuals registered with the College of Dietitians of Ontario or other provincial college can use the title dietitian, Registered Dietitian. The law protects this title. A Registered Dietitian (RD) has attended an accredited university, completed an internship of supervised, hands on training, completes annual continuing education and practices ethically, according to a professional Code of Conduct.

At Saint Elizabeth Registered Dietitians provide nutritional assessment to premature infants coming home from hospital and those receiving their nutrition from enteral feeding or parenteral feeding. Registered Dietitians provide nutritional guidance for those with cancer, diabetes, Heart failure, COPD and stroke to name a few.
