People and Communities
Caring for people. Strengthening
communities.
At SE Health, care doesn’t stop at the doorstep. Across Canada, our teams bring
hope, happiness, and connection to the people and communities we serve, proving
every day that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Our Heart in Action
The 115 Initiative — Hope and Happiness in Every Community
To celebrate 115 years of impact, SE Health launched the 115 Initiative — empowering teams to lead local giving projects that bring joy and dignity to others.
At the SE Career College of Health, instructors and students gifted robotic companion pets to long-term care homes across Ontario, creating comfort for residents like Lucille in Windsor. “We’ve embraced this initiative to express gratitude and bring joy,” shared Program Coordinator Laura Smith.
Across the country, SE Health teams have carried this spirit forward, delivering meals, filling care packages, and supporting local shelters and food banks.
Warmth and Belonging: Community Stories
The Giving Fence — Windsor’s Winter Warmth
What began as a simple fence became a symbol of generosity. In Windsor, SE Health staff and volunteers created a “Giving Fence,” inviting neighbours to hang coats, scarves, and boots for anyone who needs them. Each item taken is an act of quiet care and shared humanity.
Toasty Toes — North Simcoe Muskoka
Every winter, SE Health’s Toasty Toes campaign collects socks and winter essentials for The David Busby Centre in Barrie. The initiative reminds us that small comforts — like warm feet — can spark big hope.
Care Packages in Central East
SE Health teams in the Central East region hand-deliver care packages filled with food, hygiene products, and small gifts to local shelters and tent cities, proving that compassion travels best by hand.
Acts of Kindness Coast to Coast
Our teams have taken this initiative to heart, creating meaningful moments from Welland to Windsor and beyond:
Open Arms Mission, Welland
Team members purchased groceries for a local food bank responding to record need.
Shoebox Gifts, Caledonia
Boxes packed with personal essentials, comfort items, and encouraging notes were distributed to women’s shelters in Haldimand/Norfolk and Brant.
Belinda’s Place, York Region
Gift cards wrapped in cozy Saint Elizabeth Foundation socks offered warmth and autonomy to women experiencing homelessness.
Journey Home Hospice, Windsor
Teams purchased new pajamas and loungewear for patients arriving with little or no clothing, pairing comfort with compassion.

“Hanging a coat on the Giving Fence might seem small — but when someone walks away warmer, it’s everything.”
