Spreading Hope and Happiness through the Holidays

SE Health staff made superhero capes for children with special needs, to help Spread Hope and Happiness.

Each year during the holidays, the Saint Elizabeth Foundation supports SE Health staff in spreading Hope and Happiness with the Holiday Hope and Happiness Campaign. The campaign is the Foundation’s way of saying thank you to the staff for their ongoing fundraising efforts and donations throughout the year. The Foundation provides SE staff with access to funds they can use to spread joy to their clients and communities across the country and help ensure those in need have a holiday season filled with hope and happiness.

Take a look at how our staff spread Hope and Happiness over the month of December:

SE Health staff in Ottawa created beautiful superhero capes for children with special needs, to help Spread Hope and Happiness. Staff collected donations of new and used materials and hand-sewed over 80 superhero capes! Watch our video, and see the magic and wonders of what it means to Spread Hope and Happiness:

One of our Personal Support Workers (PSW) Sonya Frank spread a little joy to one her clients over the holidays by gifting a brand new sheet set and pillow set!

Our Central East Service Delivery Centre Spread Hope and Happiness this holiday season by collecting donations to those in need and providing a Holiday Cheer Bag! The bags were filled with donations of food, toiletries, gently used winter clothing and blankets, and toys for those in need and have been personally distributed in their community.

Another staff member, Rebecca Bower, wanted to Spread Hope and Happiness to two of her younger clients by gifting them with their favourite toys. “This campaign allowed me to spread a little Christmas cheer to two children who have had to endure a lot in their short lives thus far, and it was a very special experience for me. Thank you!”

Evelyn Tait shares her story of spreading hope and happiness:
I am very happy to be a part of the Hope and Happiness Campaign.  I usually do Christmas baking every year and give it out to spread joy to others. I enjoy this thoroughly and enjoy the happy smiles and good feelings it brings. I am going to give them to local volunteer organizations for the volunteers. I feel that they spread joy and do such great things for others and they need joy, happiness, and appreciation as well. I also get into the holiday spirit by putting on a hat or a headband and this year I also have a Rudolph scrub shirt. I enjoy the happy smiles and being called "Santa "as this brings me joy. This joy fills me with hope and happiness as well.  So it goes full circle! “
