2017 Michael Decter Scholarship for Health Leadership and Policy Studies Winner Announced

Saint Elizabeth is pleased to announce that Kieran Quinn has been selected as the winner of the 2017 Michael Decter Scholarship for Health Leadership and Policy Studies.

Kieran Quinn is a fellow in General Internal Medicine and Eliot Phillipson Scholar in the Clinician Scientist Training Program at the University of Toronto. He is currently pursuing his PhD in Clinical Epidemiology and Health Care Research at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation, focusing on redefining end-of-life care for the patient with advanced non-cancerous disease.

He completed his Master of Science degree in cardiovascular physiology in the Cardiovascular Collaborative Sciences Program in the Department of Physiology at the University of Toronto in 2008.  He went on to complete his medical degree at Queen’s University in Kingston where he was the recipient of the Canadian Cardiovascular Societies Have a Heart Bursary, and was awarded the Neil Currie Polson Memorial Prize for excellence in clinical practice.

As a resident in Internal Medicine at the University of Toronto, Kieran received the University Health Network’s outstanding house staff award and St. Michael’s Hospital’s Murray Muirhead award for excellence in medical expertise and humanity.

He is the Director of The Rounds Table, a medical podcast dedicated to helping clinicians stay current on emerging medical research, which is downloaded over 10,000 times per month in 103 countries from across the globe.

He is also the loving father of Hunter, Austin and Kennedy.
